Dysport in Draper, without the unit math trick

Dysport is a neurotoxin like Botox, made differently and dosed on a different scale. I offer both at 892 E 12300 S, every weekday. The useful question is not which brand is better. It is which one suits your face, and what the same treatment actually costs.

How Dysport differs from Botox

Both relax the muscles that crease your skin. Both are botulinum toxin type A. What differs is the manufacturing and, most importantly, the unit. A Dysport unit and a Botox unit are not the same amount of anything, so the numbers cannot be compared directly.

In consensus practice the conversion is roughly two and a half Dysport units for every Botox unit. That is why a Dysport treatment uses more units, and why its price per unit is lower.

Comparing the toxins

What it costs

Priced so the same treatment costs the same

Botox here is $12 to $14 per unit. Dysport is priced to match, so the total for the same treatment lands in the same place whichever product you choose. You get the exact number for your face before anything is injected.

If somewhere advertises Dysport at a per unit price that looks like a bargain next to Botox, multiply by two and a half before you get excited.

The part that matters more

The plan beats the product

Your forehead, the lines between your brows and the outer corner of your eye pull against each other. Treat them as three separate jobs and the brow drops or arches, whatever the brand. I plan them as one system, the subject of a paper I published, and that is true with Dysport exactly as it is with Botox.

How the technique works

Straight answers

Dysport questions, answered plainly

Is Dysport cheaper than Botox?

Per unit, yes, and that is the trap. It takes roughly two and a half Dysport units to do the work of one Botox unit, so a lower unit price does not mean a cheaper treatment. Here it is priced so the same treatment costs the same either way.

Does Dysport work faster?

Some people notice it a day or so sooner, and some studies have pointed the same way. The evidence is not strong enough for me to promise it. Most people see change within a few days with either product, and both are judged at two weeks.

Does Dysport spread more?

It is often said, and the research is mixed. In practice, where the product ends up depends far more on dose, dilution and placement than on the brand. That is a technique question, not a product one.

Does it last longer than Botox?

Usually about the same, three to four months for most people. Dose and your own muscle strength move that far more than the choice of product. Individual results vary.

Can I switch between Dysport and Botox?

Yes. They are different products with different dosing, so the plan gets converted rather than copied number for number. Bring your last unit counts if you have them.

Which one should I get?

For most faces, either works well in the right hands. Some people respond a little better to one than the other, and if you have tried one and been disappointed, trying the other is a reasonable next step. We decide together at the assessment.
