About
Ben Tracy, MD
I treat faces for a living and I write about why they behave the way they do. Those two things are the same job.

The short version
My training is in physical medicine and rehabilitation, a specialty built almost entirely around how muscles move and what happens when they stop. That is an unusual route into aesthetics, and it shapes everything about how I treat. I do not think about the face as a surface with lines on it. I think about it as a set of opposing muscles pulling against each other, where changing one changes all the others.
That view became a method, and the method went through peer review. The Tracy Technique was published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2026. It argues that the upper face should be treated as one biomechanical system rather than as a forehead, a glabella and a set of crow’s feet treated independently.
I am the founder and medical director of The Injector Collective, where I see patients in Draper and Lehi. I also teach, both as national faculty and through the training programs we run, which means a fair number of injectors in this state learned some part of how they work from me.
What I actually believe
Four things I will not budge on
Toxin belongs in muscle
Into the belly of the muscle, never onto bone. The product spreads in three dimensions, so the useful question is which muscle, not how deep.
The frontalis lifts the brow
It is the only muscle that does. Heaviness after treatment comes from taking too much of it out, and usually from the wrong part of it.
Plan the system, not the zone
Treating the elevens changes the brow. Treating the forehead changes the eye. They share one dose budget.
Restraint is a skill
Less product in the right compartment beats more product spread evenly. Most overtreatment is a planning failure, not a dosing one.
Checkable, not adjectival
The credentials, and how to verify them
Anyone can call themselves an expert injector. These are the claims I make, each with the thing you would use to check it, because that is the difference between a credential and an adjective.
- Medical doctor. Licensed to practice in Utah. Licence status is public and searchable through the Utah Division of Professional Licensing.
- Peer reviewed author. The Tracy Technique, published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2026. It resolves by doi:10.1111/jocd.70867 and is indexed on PubMed. You can read the whole thing without taking my word for any of it.
- Physical medicine and rehabilitation background. A specialty built around how muscles move and how movement fails, which is the reason I treat the upper face as a mechanism rather than a surface.
- I teach this. I train other injectors in the technique through The Injector Collective. Teaching a method to practitioners is a different test than performing it.
